LAST REMINDER -  2019 POOL PASSES ARE AVAILABLE - DEADLINE 4/15/19

The 2019 pool passes are ready for pick up in the office so please stop by on one of Dianne’s days in the office if at all possible.  As always, one pool pass will be issued per condo and it will need to be signed for by the resident or owner.  Anyone using the pool areas are required to have a current year pool pass and electronic pool gate card with them at all times.  2018 pool passes are still valid until the 2019 passes are issued but 2019 pool passes will be REQUIRED by 4/15/19.  Since the office hours aren’t always convenient for everyone, Dianne will be at the office on a Saturday morning closer to the April deadline (tentatively scheduled for April 20th 9 am – 11 am).  If you lose your pass, replacement passes are $5 each.  And please remember that our Security company staff or any HOA staff or Security Committee member can ask to see your pool pass if you are in the pool area so please keep it out and convenient to show.

Pool hours are 8am- 10pm and quiet hours in the pool area are 8pm-10pm so that residents around the pools can have a peaceful evening in their homes.

REMINDER OF THE VEHICLE LIMIT RULE

No more than ONE vehicle per number of bedrooms plus ONE extra vehicle, i.e., 2-bedroom units can register and park no more than 3 vehicles inside of the complex and 3-bedroom units can register and park no more than 4 vehicles.  One registered vehicle is required to use their reserved parking space for overnight parking (it appears that some vehicles are being left out in visitor parking overnight while the reserved parking space is vacant and this will result in a violation). Rule does not apply to guest vehicles.  Motorcycles are considered as one vehicle unless parked in same reserved space as another vehicle.

Please keep this vehicle limit in mind if you are considering an additional vehicle purchase because if it puts you over the approved number of vehicles, you will need to move one or more off of the property.  Thank you for your help with this rule.  Also, please remind your guests that no back-in parking is allowed in visitor parking or there will be a $50 fine.

PET WASTE STATIONS, BAGS AND PICKING UP AFTER YOUR PETS

Thank you to all of you who pick up after your pets and put the bags in the pet waste areas.  For the most part, everyone is really good about doing this and everyone here appreciates it.  But there are still those few who do not pick up after their pets and this is not only an immediate $100 violation, but it’s very inconsiderate to those who go for walks on the property and end up stepping in the waste.   Please be courteous and always pick up after your pets.  Also, please do try to take your own bags with you when you walk your dogs but if you forget one, the doggy stations are definitely there for your use.  But please just take what you need for your immediate use because those bags are quite expensive.  And just a reminder that these rules apply to ALL PETS, cats included.  They need to be on a leash if they are outside and you need to pick up their pet waste if you walk them outside.  And this includes urine on the walkways, which we are getting many complaints about.

NON-SMOKING RULE REMINDER

We want to thank all of who are doing such a great job of complying with our non-smoking policy.  As I’m sure you know, smoking is NOT allowed within 25 feet of buildings, which includes balconies and walkways.  We also appreciate that those of you who do go outside in the parking lot area to smoke are taking an ashtray with you so that you don’t drop the ashes and cigarette butts on the ground but there are also 3 “tower” type ashtrays spread out across the brick wall in the back for those who want to step out there to smoke.  We are finding that vendors and guests of some residents, however, have not been told about this rule so they are smoking on balconies and walkways.  Please be sure to let any vendors that you hire or visitors to your residence know about this rule.  We also want to remind you that this rule applies to smoking OF ANY KIND, including vaping, marijuana, etc., not just cigarettes.

EXTERIOR DOOR MATS AT EACH UNIT

This is a reminder that only ventilated doormats are allowed at your doorway on the 2nd and 3rd level walkways so that moisture from the rain and/or walkway power washing isn’t retained underneath.  Continued moisture retention can cause damage to the wood underneath the doormats.  You may not even need an entrance door mat if you have one right inside your door when you enter your condo but that is definitely a personal preference.  Also, only ONE doormat per entrance is allowed on all three levels so please remove any extras. No personal items can be kept outside of your entrance door and this applies to all three levels of the buildings.

PATIO AND BALCONY RULE REMINDERS

Now that spring is upon us, here are just a few reminders for your patios and balconies.  Only professional outdoor patio furniture is allowed so please do not use your indoor chairs, tables, etc. unless it’s just for the time you plan to be on your patio/balcony.  If you use a patio umbrella, please bring it inside (or lay it down on the patio) once you are done using it, along with ice chests, folding chairs, etc.  You can store up to two surfboards but they must be laying down across the balcony so as not to block the view of your neighbors.  Bicycles are not allowed on patios/balconies at any time.  All planters must be kept on risers so that they are not sitting directly on the wood deck. No brooms, mops, cleaning supplies, fertilizer, etc. can be stored there either. Basically, if it’s not listed as an “approved” item, it is not allowed. Please refer to the “Balcony Rules” in your Rules and Regs so that you are aware of ALL of the rules for the balconies and patios.  Also it’s imperative that all owners refer to the BALCONY MAINTENANCE REQUIREMENTS as it is your responsibility to maintain your own balcony deck and report any concerns with your balcony railings to the office.

CONTRACTOR HOURS FOR REMODELING

If you are planning to do remodeling on your condo, please first let the office know so that they can let you know if anything you are doing will need an Architectural Modification form and permits.  Also be courteous by letting your next door neighbors and upper or lower floor neighbors know ahead of time so they can be prepared for the additional noise.  The HOA follows the same construction hours during the week as the city of Port Hueneme uses as guidelines, which are 7 am – 7 pm Monday – Friday.  But the HOA has approved the hours of 9 am – 6 pm for Saturdays and Sundays.  Of course if your contractor can start later or not work on weekends, that’s even better for your neighbors but they are authorized to work those hours if needed.  If you are aware of contractors working outside of those hours with noisy projects, please notify the office.

VOLUNTEERS NEEDED TO HELP ORGANIZE “SUMMER POTLUCK”

One of our residents has generously offered to help organize a “Welcome to summer/Get to know your neighbors” potluck for all of the residents of Surfside I HOA, hopefully sometime in June. She is asking for volunteers and plans to hold a planning meeting sometime in April so if you are interested in helping, please [contact us]. What a fun event this should be!

DO YOU LIKE TO PLAY BUNCO OR WANT TO LEARN HOW?

One of our residents would like to start a “BUNCO” group of at least 6-10 people so if you are interested, please [contact us].

REMINDER: Roller blades, skateboards and motorized scooters are prohibited on property and must be used outside the complex.  No bicycles on sidewalks.
