New carport cover already damaged
Dear Residents
Believe it or not, one of the brand-new carport covers has already been damaged. See photo below of the double space structure closest to the exit gate. Although it's minor, it's literally been less than a month since completion. The Board will take measures to prevent this in the future however we need your help. If you were witness to or have any information about who caused this damage, please contact the office as soon as possible. Without having any information on when it occurred (we believe it was within the last few days), reviewing camera footage will be very, daunting so I would certainly appreciate your help.
Thanks!

February 26, 2024
Dear Residents
We've now moved to the next phase of carport construction of structures 6-9 (see map). Sixty spaces are being closed for parking. Temporary permits will allow you to park on the public street in the likely event you're not able to locate parking on site.
The office will be closed Wednesday-Friday this week while I attend the Annual Law Seminar in Anaheim therefore it’s important you either stop by or contact me before the office closes tomorrow if you need special arrangements to obtain the temporary permits. Please DO NOT park in violation of any of the HOA rules OR enter areas that are barricaded.
Owners, please communicate this with your tenants and/or rental managers as well.

February 21, 2024
The city will be closing Surfside Drive for the 5K Run for Your Heart event taking place on February 24, 2024. Please use parking lot A if you are not able to locate a space on site.
The next phase which includes structures 6-9 (see Carport Project Map) will start on Monday February 26. If you have a reserved space in one of those four structures, please have the space cleared no later than 8 am that morning.

February 21, 2024
Dear Residents,
United Carports will be moving to the next phase of this project on Monday February 26. If your reserved space is located in structures 6-9 (see Carport Project Map below), please make sure you move your vehicle from that space no later than 8 am on Monday.
With sixty reserved spaces under construction, it's bound to cause an issue with parking on site. Throughout this project people have come home unable to find a space and received citations for parking in violation of the rules either on site or on the city street. If you haven’t already done so, please stop by the office to pick up your temporary pass to park on the public street. If you’re not able to come to the office during business hours, please contact me by .phone or email to make arrangements. Failure to plan properly does not mean parking rules for the community OR on the city street will not be enforced.
Thanks!

Dear Residents
Since it appears we’re going to have a break in the weather again, United Carports will be on site tomorrow through Saturday to finish installation of the carport roofs. Structures 1 and 3 will not require closure. If your reserved space is located in structures 2, 4 or 5, please have the space cleared no later than 8 am tomorrow. Please see attached map if you’re unsure what structure your reserved space is located.
Owners please share this information with your tenants, guests and/or property managers.
Thanks!

Dear Residents,
Because weather has affected the schedule several times since it started, we realize it can be confusing when your parking space will and will not be available. From this point forward, we will be sending notices per phase based on progress.
Updates will be posted in each of the following manners:
Email - They will have a subject line of carport project update so please make sure those are read and distributed to family and friends who may be visiting if your unit is a second home. Owners please be aware it is your responsibility to pass this information on to your tenant and/or rental management company.

Once we announce we’re moving forward to the structure you park in, please be prepared to
Move your vehicle from your reserved space no later than 7 am on the start date. We don’t like knocking on doors that early but will make sure there are no delays on our part.
Pick up your temporary passes! We will be more than happy to deliver to your door if you cannot come in during office hours.
Violations of the parking rules will not be ignored because you failed to plan properly.
Thanks from Team Surfside

Dear Residents,
We’re going to have a break in the weather so United Carports will be on site tomorrow to resume work and will be here through Saturday. Parking spaces in structures 1-5 must be cleared no later than 7 am tomorrow. The goal is to make parking available under the structure on Saturday evening. If you haven’t picked up temporary parking passes and you’re not able to come to the office during business hours, please contact me by phone or email preferably BEFORE 5 PM today to get temporary passes. One of the team members will be happy to deliver to your door.
PLEASE don’t make us knock on your door at 7 am tomorrow to ask that you to move your car.
Thanks!

Dear Residents
The most challenging part of the carport project is complete. Due to inclement weather, we will experience a delay with installation of the roofing materials for the duration of the project. A majority of the spaces were opened today to allow on site parking. Only structure three will remain closed until weather allows us to proceed (see map below). If your space is located in structure three, please make arrangements BEFORE Friday at 5 pm to pick up a temporary pass in the event you are unable to locate parking on site.
Please do NOT park in a space that is not assigned to the unit you live in OR in violation or any of the HOA parking rules.
The City of Port Hueneme will be posting no parking signs in the next few days in preparation for the Annual 5K Run. No parking will be allowed Surfside Drive on Sunday February 4. Please use your temporary pass to park in lot A on Saturday evening.
Vehicles parked in violation of posted signs will be towed at owners expense.

Dear Residents
We are on target for phase 2 footings to be completed by next Friday so the majority of the most challenging part of this project is coming to an end. The construction map is updated below.
Near the first two buildings as you enter the community, five visitor spaces have been marked as no parking effective Tuesday January 30th at 7 am in order to avoid the possibility of concrete splashing on your car while the footings close to these spaces are being poured. Please do not move any barricades or signs. The spaces will be available once the holes have been completely filled.
Installation of the roofs and lighting on structures 1-4 will start on January 29. Most of the units from 308 to 400 are within these areas so please stop in or call/email me to make arrangements to get your off-site parking passes as soon as possible.
While it’s understandable most residents would like to park on site, if you come in later than 6 pm or you’re just visiting for the weekend, open spaces may not be available so please take advantage of the opportunity of free street parking the City is allowing by picking up a temporary street parking pass. A gentle reminder failure to pick up a pass will not waive enforcement of parking rules violations on site or on the public street.
We certainly appreciate your patience and cooperation. If you have any questions, please feel free to contact me.
Owners, if your unit is a rental, please make sure you share this information with your tenants or property managers. Some tenants are not on the email distribution list.

Unfortunately, within a week of sending notice that Phase 2 was on schedule to start January 2, mother nature had different plans. There was no construction scheduled between Christmas and New Years so we’re a week behind. The map with updated dates is included at the bottom of this page. A reminder that every step of this project is “weather and inspection success permitting”. We will do our best to communicate changes as quickly as possible.
Residents with a reserved space in structures 3 and 4 are now able to park in their spaces. Those who have parking spaces in structures 1, 2 and 5 are still under construction, however we anticipate being able to release those areas on Monday, January 8.
Phase 2 is now scheduled to start on January 8. Please have your vehicle removed from your reserved space no later than 7 am. The Surfside team will be on site bright and early to make sure the construction zone is clear by the time the contractors are on site.
Open parking areas will still be available but anyone who has been here understands how incredibly limited parking is. If you do not have your temporary passes yet, please stop by the office to pick them up at your earliest convenience. If you’re not able to come during normal business hours, please contact me by email or to make other arrangements.
Failure to obtain a temporary pass does not waiver any parking rules within the community. Vehicles in violation-parking in a reserved space not assigned to your unit, parking in a red curb zone while not actively loading/unloading, parking a non-electric vehicle in a charging station space, or parking in an area that’s not even designated as a parking space-are still subject to citations, fines or even towing.
Please feel free to reach out if you have questions or concerns.

United Carports has been working diligently to keep the project on schedule. We passed first inspection yesterday and today footings were filled with concrete to the point we can until the posts for the new carport roofs can be set next week.
This means Phase 2 will be starting on schedule on January 2. If your reserved space is in Phase 2, it must be cleared by 8 am on January 2.
Open parking areas will still be available, but anyone who has been here for Phase 1 understands how incredibly limited parking is.
If you haven’t picked up your temporary passes to park on Surfside Drive, please make arrangements to do so as soon as you can. Time is limited due to holiday hours.
-
Some residents have already received citations from the City for parking in violation of what has been authorized and those fees are not being waived.
PARKING IS AVAILABLE ON BOTH SIDES OF THE PUBLIC STREET OF SURFSIDE DRIVE AND PARKING LOT A IN FRONT OF THE PIER WITH A TEMPORARY PERMIT. YOU CANNOT PARK ON VENTURA ROAD.
Even if you’re not having an issue finding parking within the community right now, please pick up your temporary permit just in case you need it in the future.
As an aside, please avoid parking too close to either of the fire hydrants on Surfside Drive. We offered to paint the curbs red to increase visibility but that request was denied, nor is the City required to paint them.
For those of you who've picked up your temporary permit already, thank you!

Phase 1 of the carport project started on December 4 and we’re thrilled with how efficiently and quickly they’re moving through the demo stage.
This project will take approximately four months to complete, barring any weather or inspection related delays.
Crews will be working on Saturdays but no heavy equipment will be used.
Below, please find a map indicating the schedule and tentative date ranges your reserved space will not be available.
At different times throughout the project, every single reserved space at the community will not be accessible for parking.
The City of Port Hueneme has agreed to allow parking for residents on Surfside Drive as well as Beach Parking Lot A (west of the pier). In order to confirm vehicles belong to residents of Surfside 1, you must come to the office during business hours and obtain a temporary permit. Regardless of what phase of the project your reserved space is located, please stop by the office for a temporary permit ASAP. Only one permit per home will be issued.
Avoid citations we can’t fight… If you are forced to park on the public side of Surfside without the temporary permit, you WILL receive a citation.
To avoid a citation, the City requires the following:
Vehicles must clearly display the temporary parking permit at all times while parked in either of the specified locations.
If sunshades are being used, it is the resident’s responsibility to ensure that the permit is clearly displayed between the sunshade and the windshield.
Vehicles not displaying the temporary permit in the specified locations will be subject to a parking citation.
The City is not responsible for theft of vehicle, personal property in the vehicle, or damage/vandalism to the vehicle while parked in Lot “A” or along Surfside Drive. If you store a vehicle in your reserved space, please plan to move it somewhere off property before the project starts and until the project is completed. Stored vehicles will not be allowed in open/visitor parking on site or on Surfside Drive/Parking lot A.
The vehicle you normally would park in your reserved spot MUST be parked on Surfside Drive or parking lot A.
Please pay attention to the fire hydrant areas (the white curb that used to be red),
“The California Department of Motor Vehicles clearly states that vehicles may not park within 15 ft. of a fire hydrant. State law does not require that curbs near fire hydrants be painted red. It is the driver’s responsibility to ensure that they are parked legally.”
The Association or United Carports will not be responsible for injury or damage caused if you breach any of the construction zones. It is of utmost importance and safety that you do not enter any of the areas either on foot or with your vehicle. This is a project that has been over four years in the making. We realize there will be some inconveniences during this process but hope you appreciate it finally coming to fruition.
